Try this at home
Interestingly, this experiment is one you can replicate at home with minimal equipment. All you need is a heart rate monitor or a watch that can track your heart rate, some water, a bowl where your head fits in and a snorkel if you want to add that dimension as well. By tracking your heart rate across different conditions – such as sitting quietly, holding your breath, and immersing your head in water – you can observe your own body's natural diving reflex. Try this at home, but don't forget to get your head out of the water after a while to breath ;).
